Former Bush frontman, Gavin Rossdale, aka Mr Gwen Stefani, has released his first solo album and he told our US correspondent about his expectations and what it’s like playing second banana to his wife Gwen!
“The last album did so badly that I don’t feel any pressure about this one,” he said at his management office in Los Angeles last week. His latest album Wanderlust is the first since the demise of his previous band, ‘Institute’.
The self-deprecating rock star jokes about his last record with Institute. “Well, we only had four fans. At least they were the members of U2, so maybe altogether we had eight fans!”
Rossdale doesn’t mind that his wife Gwen is a bigger rock star than he is.
“I love that Gwen is an independent girl who goes and does her thing,” says Gavin.
“She’s obviously not the same person at home as she is publicly but I’m a very secure guy. I have to tell you, as a man, it takes a lot of power not to be intimidated by that kind of success. But for me, I just wouldn’t succumb to that kind of emasculating vulnerability.”
Meanwhile, the first single off Wanderlust, ‘Love Remains the Same’, is about…. who else? “It’s a celebration of my love for Gwen. What can I say? I’m a bit of a sucker.”

According to a fan (adam/second floor) on the institutemusic.com fan board he had a chance to speak with Gavin at one of Gwen’s tour stops.
This is good news. Just think in 6 more months we’ll have a new album from Gavin Rossdale. I’m sure a single will be out sooner than that. Stay Tuned.

Gavin Rossdale recorded his up coming solo album at Ocean Way’s Studio B.
Gavin Rossdale, lead singer and guitarist of the platinum band Bush, and the group Institute, has recorded tracks for his upcoming solo debut in Ocean Way’s famed Studio B. Rossdale also appears in the film How to Rob a Bank, which premiered June 25 at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Don’t worry about it. I read about it on the internet just like you did….
I’ve got an album of stuff recorded that I need to mix but I’m itching to go out and play again so I’d hope to do some band stuff again soon but it’ll be a new band, not the old one. That was worn out a long time ago.

Did anyone really think that Gavin and Bush/Nigel would get the band back together anytime soon? I’m sure one day, but i doubt Nigel would be coming to the U.S. to start over with Gavin. Gavin is doing his own thing. They both have families and separate music careers. Let’s me move on and enjoy what ever music we get from Gavin this fall and Nigel new venture.
