Charlie Walker drummer for OSLO

October 29, 2007

Check out Charlie Walker and his new band OSLO. more..

New album from former No Doubt musician.

Originating in California, Oslo formed in 2001 as a trio comprised of Mattia Borrani (vocals / guitar), Kerry Wayne James (bass), and Gabrial McNair (guitar). They later added keyboardist Damon Ramirez and, in true rock fashion, cycled through twelve drummers before regaining their original drummer Charlie Walker. They released a self-titled debut in 2005 and are now following it up with The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate. source

A Look Back: Gavin Rossdale Committed to Institute

August 10, 2007

It’s been 2+ years already since we heard about a new Gavin venture - it was Institute. That band obviously didn’t work out. But would it have, if Gavin just would have went solo for the beginning instead of trying to brand it with a name? - It’s all Gavin in the end.

Check out an article on SPIN.com about Gavin and the band that was Institute -

Was it just us, or was Gavin Rossdale just months away from being the answer to a “Where are they now?” sort of question? Fear not, fans of the Bush, for Mr. Gwen Stefani is back on the road fronting a new band called Institute in which Rossdale is backed by ex-Helmet guitarist Chris Traynor, former Rival Schools bassist Cache Tolman, and Charlie Walker on drums. According to Rossdale’s official site, Institute’s debut album, Distort Yourself, departs from the music he played with Bush with a spare sound that focuses more on Rossdale’s voice. Institute’s tour kicks off on August 11 in San Diego, and Distort Yourself is in stores on September 13.

Bulletproofskin in Mexico

July 4, 2007

A fan letter, from Mike, heard Institute and Bulletproofskin being played..

Dude, so check this out… so I havn’t heard of Institute since some small club tour they did couple years ago.. I saw the Roxy show in LA… Well I’m pulling an all nighter trucking through Texas and while bombing down the interstate at 2AM I pick up what sounds like Gavin on a radio station… so I listen, identify as bulletproof skin…

But here’s the kicker…

The rock station in JUAREZ MEXICO!!!!!!!!! plays Institute, the DJ was speaking all spanish and I was fricken blown away… they havn’t played Institute in Los Angeles Since like 2006 and here it is on Mexican radio in the desert at 2AM!

anyways, that is my random disconnected story.
