Gavin Rossdale: Album mixed in April and Guest Appearances

from Gavin Rossdale’s @GRossdale twitter post on March 27th:

“new record being mixed in april.guest spots on a pair of upcoming albums (a band you know & a legend you know).much to come.stay tuned”

This is exciting news that the new upcoming Gavin Rossdale is being mixed in April (does that mean the album will be out in May or June?) and GR will be making two guest appearances on “a band you know” and “a legend you know” albums. (who do you think the band/legend is? – 2010 albums coming out are: U2, David Bowie, Katy Perry and No Doubt. – could it be one of these?) hope we find out soon..

Ya, im wicked excited about all of this news. I’m really interested in knowing what band and legend he is singing with. I’m even wondering if it’ll be a collaboration like we have seen alot of recently with mixing a rock artist with a hiphop one (i.e. coldplay/jay z & 30seconds to mars/kayne west). I’m very excited about this spring/summer!

Could be a few months yet

mixing of a album can take some time. if the records only just finished being recorded and they plan to mix all songs ie songs not going to make it onto the album then you could be talking a week a song. depending on who’s involved. ive been there and it can certainly take somw time. good news all the same though!!

good points, chino and josiah – that would be cool if Gavin hooked up with a band that is current and has a major following, that would really push the interest of his new album

It will be intresting to see what direction Gavin takes on the album. I would hope its geared more to towards his Bush days and the stuff he wrote for Institute. The solo stuff was good but i think he’s is at his best when he writes proper rock songs. Especially with institute when he got Page Hamilton of Helmet to produce it. You could hear he was pushed in that record and came up with some rocking riffs.

im hoping the same, that Gavin takes more of the Bush/Institute sound with the new album. I think after the Institute album the record company may have pulled him back some and Wanderlust was written – that turned out to be less rock and more commercial – with a softer sound. it still worked. LRTS was a huge song commercially.

I am hoping that is more of an Institute/Bush sounding album. I really liked Wanderlust, but I find myself listening to Distort Yourself more often. I am sure it will be fantastic no matter what direction he goes in. Really interested to see who he is teaming up with also.

I too hope its leaning more towards the Bush/Institute vibe. I will buy it no matter what the sound….can’t wait to hear who he has guest spots with….i am dying over here waiting for this new album, all these updates are GREAT, but its just a tease. ;) hahaha.
