Gavin Rossdale: Fifth Annual GRAMMY Camp
Gavin is teaching a Master Class With Gavin Rossdale at this years GRAMMY Camp, the camp will be held on July 11–19, 2009 at USC’s Thornton School of Music.

1:30–3:30 p.m. — Master Class With Gavin Rossdale
Gavin Rossdale will give a camp-wide master class and share his background, inspiration, and perspectives on the creative and technical processes. He will discuss his career journey from his start with the band Bush to his venture into film to his first-ever solo album release, Wanderlust. Rossdale will provide campers with real-world examples and insider tips and tricks of the trade on having a successful career in the music industry. He will then open the forum up for a question-and-answer discussion.

In addition to a faculty of music professionals, teaching professionals will include: Lamont Dozier, GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter/producer/recording artist; Jimmy Jam, four-time GRAMMY winner and Recording Academy Chair Emeritus/GRAMMY Foundation® and MusiCares® Board member; Rickey Minor, president/CEO of Minor Productions Inc. and music director for the GRAMMY Awards and “American Idol”; and Neil Portnow, GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares President/CEO and Recording Academy President/CEO, among others.
WHAT:
Fifth Annual GRAMMY Camp® — the program offers selected high school students a
nine-day interactive residential summer music experience. Focusing on all aspects of commercial music, this unique opportunity provides instruction by industry professionals in an immersive creative environment with cutting-edge technology in professional facilities. The curriculum engages students in the technical aspects of creating, performing and recording and emphasizes new and emerging music technologies.
The program offers 10 music career tracks: Audio Engineering; Concert Promotion/Production; Electronic Music Production; Music Journalism; and performance tracks in Bass; Drums; Guitar; Keyboard; Songwriting; and Winds & Strings. All tracks culminate in media projects, CD recordings and/or showcase performances. GRAMMY Camp will be held at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and other professional venues throughout Los Angeles.
Financial assistance for GRAMMY Camp is offered to qualified students; this year, a portion of these resources was generously provided by ASCAP, the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Fund, and the Ford Motor Company Fund.
